Increased efficiency without hiring new employees.
Goose Creek Candle, a candle manufacturer from Liberty, Kentucky, faced a difficult decision: how to cope with the growing demand for products without increasing the number of employees. Traditional order fulfillment methods - manual movement around the warehouse, palletizing, and packing - led to significant delays, especially during peak seasons, when delivery time could reach up to 21 days. The introduction of warehouse automation proved to be a solution that made it possible to significantly speed up processes without having to hire additional staff.
In the first stage of system implementation, an increase in efficiency of over 40% was recorded. This was not just theory - data confirms that order processing operations have become much more predictable and faster. The next stage, including robotic palletizing, brought an additional increase in efficiency of 15% to 20%, which resulted from better use of labor and the elimination of repetitive movements.
Reduced physical strain on employees.
One of the key problems before the implementation of automation was the high intensity of physical work. Employees traveled significant distances daily, which led to fatigue and the risk of injury. After the introduction of the new system, which automates the flow of materials and directs packages to the appropriate fulfillment zones, the distance traveled by employees decreased by more than 50%. This not only improves working conditions - it also significantly supports employee retention.
The elimination of repetitive movements, such as lifting and rotating packages, brought additional benefits. Robotic palletizing replaced manual operations that were both physically demanding and prone to errors. Employees could focus on more valuable tasks, which contributed to better work quality and greater job satisfaction.

The automation system is based on a FANUC M-410iB/140H palletizer, which is characterized by high speed and precision. This robot can handle loads with a maximum weight of 140 kg and reach up to 2850 mm, making it suitable for use in large production halls. Its functions are used to automatically stack packages on pallets after the packaging process is completed.
The entire system was designed by CRG Automation - an authorized FANUC system integrator. Collaboration with a company specializing in automation solutions made it possible to create a scalable solution that can be expanded in the future. Automatic routing of packages to the appropriate fulfillment zones and smooth material flow are key to maintaining high operational efficiency.
Significance for the future of production
The implementation of automation was not a one-time project, but a strategic step towards long-term development. The candle manufacturer has gained the ability to respond more quickly to changing demand and scale operations without having to increase its workforce. This primarily means greater flexibility in responding to seasonal peaks and better fulfillment of customer commitments.
According to the Director of Order Fulfillment at Goose Creek Candle, the decision to automate was one of the most important steps in the company's history. "If you are considering automation - pull the trigger sooner rather than later. It changed everything immediately," said Aaran Taylor. This is not just a statement, but confirmed experience: the system works and brings real benefits.
Scalability of operations through automation
The implementation of warehouse automation has not only solved current problems with order fulfillment, but has become a strategic foundation for the further development of Goose Creek Candle. Thanks to the system based on FANUC robots and CRG Automation solutions, the company has gained the ability to adapt more quickly to changing market conditions - both during peak seasons and during periods of declining demand. Automatic routing of packages to the appropriate fulfillment zones and smooth material flow ensure operational stability, which is crucial for maintaining high-quality customer service.
In addition, the system enables scaling without having to hire new employees - which is significant in the context of difficulties with recruitment and retention of staff. Employees can focus on tasks that require creativity, data analysis or customer service, which contributes to building added value in the production process. Such a transition from physical work to more intellectual work also supports the development of organizational culture and increases employee engagement. In the long term, automation becomes not only a tool for efficiency, but also an element of resilience to change - both technological and economic. Collaboration with CRG Automation as an authorized FANUC system integrator also ensures the possibility of developing the solution in the future, e.g. by implementing robots mobile or additional features that leverage AI-powered analytics.
