Modularity as a key to personalizing internal logistics

TIAGo Base is not one of those standard robots that need to be adapted to the environment. Its strength lies in its flexibility - each element can be customized for a specific function. From transporting goods to integrating with warehouse management systems, the device can be modified according to customer needs. This is not just about add-ons, but about a complete transformation of the logistics process within the company.

In practice, this means that a company can start with simple material transport and gradually expand its functions - for example, by adding an RGB-D camera for better obstacle avoidance or a docking station for continuous operation without interruptions. This approach eliminates the need to invest in new systems while allowing for technological development in line with the company's growth.

The flexibility of TIAGo Base is not limited to hardware add-ons - its software architecture also enables the customization of operational functions. Thanks to the open API and support for ROS (Robot Operating System), a company can create custom operating scenarios, such as automatically transferring data to the ERP system after delivery or integrating with a production monitoring system. This allows for full process verification and eliminates the need for manual data entry, which significantly reduces the risk of errors and speeds up the operational cycle.

Safety and compliance with standards - not just a declaration

The technical advantages of TIAGo Base are important, but its compliance with EU safety standards is equally important. The robot has CE marking and meets the requirements of Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery, as well as EN ISO 13849-1 and IEC 62133 regarding electrical safety and batteries. This is not just about paperwork - tests conducted by a certified laboratory confirm that the device meets the requirements for electromagnetic compatibility and safety during operation.

For companies deciding to implement mobile robots in production or clinical environments, such certificates are crucial. They help avoid regulatory risks and ensure that the system operates safely even under changing loads and tasks.

TIAGo Base complies with the following standards: EN ISO 12100:2010, EN ISO 13849-1:2015, EN 1037:1995+A1:2008, EN ISO 13482:2014, ISO/TS 15066:2016 and IEC 62133. It is also tested by a certified laboratory in accordance with the standards EN 61000-6-2:2017 and EN 61000-6-4:2017, which regulate electromagnetic compatibility in industrial environments.

Applications: from production to research

TIAGo Base is not intended for just one industry. Its flexibility means that it can be used both in industry and in research environments. In factories, it is used to transport raw materials, semi-finished products or finished goods between workstations. In scientific laboratories, it serves as a platform for testing new navigation algorithms, human-robot interaction or perception systems.

Thanks to the available open-source version of the simulation model and educational materials on this way, the company can not only install a robot but also develop its own solutions without having to purchase additional tools. This opens the door to internal innovation and faster testing of new features.

TIAGo Base also supports specialized applications, such as transporting goods using an attached shelf, automatically transferring loads via a wired conveyor, or integrating with an access authorization system through passwords or NFC cards. All of this is possible thanks to its modular architecture and flexible software.

Integration and scalability - the key to long-term efficiency

The implementation of TIAGo Base does not require changes to the infrastructure. The robot operates without the need for guide lines, magnets or other auxiliary elements - its navigation is based on SLAM technologies and integrated sensors. This means that it can be deployed even in an existing warehouse without the need to reconstruct the space.

In addition, the fleet management system via a web interface allows for easy addition of more robots. In this way, the company can start with one device and gradually scale operations - which is especially important for companies that want to test the effectiveness of robotics without large initial investments.

TIAGo Base also supports the digital development of the company through integration with ERP and CRM systems. Thanks to the open API interface, it is possible to automatically transfer data on deliveries, inventory levels or task completion times to central management systems, which ensures complete transparency of the logistics process.

Technical and functional advantages - the foundations of efficiency

TIAGo Base is characterized by high reliability and durability. Its design provides maximum resistance to loads - it can carry a load of up to 70 kg at a maximum speed of 1 m/s. The maximum slope of the surface that it can overcome is about 6%, which is sufficient for most production environments.

The robot operates for up to 10 hours without the need for charging, and its energy management system enables optimization of consumption. An available docking station allows for automatic charging and continuous operation without interruptions.

Another advantage is its compact design - the diameter is 540 mm, and the dimensions are 54 x 30 cm. The device weighs 47 kg, which allows for easy movement and installation in various locations.

Implementation and support - from installation to development

TIAGo Base can be quickly installed and launched. It does not require modifications to the environment - all that is needed is that the space is free of obstacles. The fleet management system via a web interface allows for easy assignment of tasks, monitoring of robot status, and adjustment of routes in real time.

The company can use the educational materials available on wiki.ros.org and technical support from the manufacturer. Consultations are also available to help tailor the solution to specific business needs.

The implementation of TIAGo Base can be started even without large investments - the company can start with one device and gradually expand the fleet, which allows for controlling costs and evaluating efficiency in practice.
